Dr. Chelsea Walton completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Stetson University and went on to complete her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited programme at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her predoctoral training experience included providing psychotherapy for adults with long-term mental illness, children and adolescents with a history of trauma, as well as involvement in programmes focused on building social thinking skills for adults with autism.

Dr. Chelsea completed a 2000-hour APA-accredited internship with the Nova Southeastern University’s Psychology Service Center where her major rotation included: conducting comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for individuals with learning and thinking differences, autism, and attention-related difficulties. She also provided behavioral parent training, child and family therapy, and peer supervision during her internship. Dr. Chelsea is provisionally-registered with the Council for Professions Allied with Medicine (CPAM) while she works towards receiving full licensure in another jurisdiction. She is fully trained in gold-standard autism assessment measures and is in the process of obtaining her Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C).

Her special interests include conducting psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults aimed at highlighting their strengths and areas for growth. She is skilled in providing evidence-based recommendations for individuals with ADHD, autism, and intellectual and learning disabilities. She also provides culturally-sensitive, evidence-based psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of concerns related to stress, sleep, anxiety, and mood challenges, with a special interest in providing support to pregnant women, and families, in the postpartum period. When appropriate, she works closely with parents, schools, physicians, and other health professionals to provide the best quality of care. Dr. Chelsea recently helped to launch The Butterfly Connection, a social space for neurodiverse girls and women at The Wellness Centre, with the intention of fostering social connections for this population while engaging in activities of shared interest.

Dr. Chelsea incorporates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-based interventions into her work with clients with the aim of helping them move beyond their challenges, achieve their goals, and find joy in the present.
