Denise Graham-Record is a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, Canadian Registered Social Worker/Psychotherapist (Provisional), and an Associate Professional Counselor with over 25 years of clinical experience.

Denise uses an integrative approach to therapy, incorporating a range of evidence-based and relational modalities into her clinical practice. Her primary therapeutic approaches include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), TheraPlay, and the Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Levels 1 & 2). She approaches each client with compassion and intention, striving to build a trusting therapeutic relationship in which clients are supported to heal, explore, learn, and thrive.

Denise works confidently with individuals experiencing mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and severe and pervasive mental illness. She has extensive experience in trauma-informed care, divorce and separation, community development, advocacy, and behaviour management.

Denise began her career as an Early Childhood Educator and Zero-to-Six Practitioner in Canada. Her passion for supporting children and families led her to pursue Social Work, followed by 14 years as a Child Protection Investigator and Family Service Worker. In these roles, she developed deep expertise in trauma assessment, child safeguarding, and family systems. She later guided her training and education toward clinical practice and, prior to joining The Wellness Centre, worked in Florida as a psychotherapist and mobile crisis clinician across both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings. Her work included delivering therapeutic interventions to children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of behavioural health conditions, severe and pervasive mental illness, and neurodevelopmental disorders.

Denise considers herself a global citizen, with a professional career spanning Canada, the United States, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ryerson University and a Master of Social Work degree from York University, as well as an Early Childhood Diploma from Humber College. Denise is a certified Social Worker (ACSW), an active member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) in the United States, and is registered as a Mental Health Therapist/Counsellor with the Cayman Islands Health Practice Council for Professionals Allied with Medicine (CPAM).

A passionate supporter of parents and families, Denise has worked extensively with foster and adoptive parents and brings significant experience in early childhood consultation. She is a Certified Triple P Parenting Facilitator (Level 4 Group). With strong Caymanian family roots and having lived in Grand Cayman as an adolescent, Denise brings a deep appreciation for cultural identity and community connection to her work.

Denise brings a wealth of experience to her role at The Wellness Centre and approaches her clinical practice with strong cross-cultural awareness, a deep grounding in trauma-informed care, and a commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and consultation. She has embraced her place in the Cayman Islands and continues to partner with other mental health agencies to support meaningful change—one life at a time.

When asked what she enjoys most about her work, Denise replies “I love empowering people ~ helping people recognize their self-worth, reach their potential, and overcome adversity.”
