Adult Services Team Lead

Jessica Derrick is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) who leads our Adult Services Team. Jessica returned to Cayman and joined The Wellness Centre at the beginning of 2019, she brought a wide range of experience working in preschool, centre-based, and NGO settings. Although Jessica always had a passion for supporting independence and life skills in adults, supporting the Special Needs cohort for Passport2Success in summer of 2019 ignited her determination to provide specialized support services targeted for the adult population. In 2020 The Wellness Centre opened the Adult Independent Skills Centre and Jessica is excited to be working towards a more inclusive Cayman.

Jessica fell in love with the science of ABA while attending Florida Institute of Technology, she continued her education and obtained her Master’s of Education from The University of Toronto. In September 2020 Jessica completed her BCBA coursework and supervised experience requirements and in July 2021 successfully passed her BCBA exam.

Jessica is also a certified PEERS Facilitator and loves getting to provide evidence-based ecologically valid social skills to pre-teens, teens, and young adults.

What you love most about the work you do?

What I love most about the work I do is when I see a client use a skill, or hear a story about them using a skill, in their day-to-day life. Being able to see the pride and excitement as individuals increase independence and start to see their goals come true is an indescribable feeling!
