Renae offers an integrative approach to psychotherapy, combining clinical and holistic interventions to promote healing both mind and body to improve well-being, lower stress and help reduce trauma responses. Sessions with Renae offer a safe, comforting and inviting space for clients to explore, learn and heal. Her therapy style is non-directive, educational, and strength-based, empowering clients to make healthy choices for themselves. Renae is a calm, intuitive, and empathic practitioner who is deeply invested in walking the journey to well-being with her clients.
Renae has recently developed a keen interest in psychoneuroimmunology (the interactions between psychological processes and the immune, endocrine, central, and peripheral nervous systems) and is excited to use knowledge learned from research in this area to better assist her clients, particularly those facing chronic health conditions (e.g. obesity and metabolic disorders that are often associated with it [e.g. diabetes and cardiovascular disease], cancer, autoimmune disorders, arthritis, etc.) and chronic pain. Renae is passionate about working with cancer and complex pain clients.
Renae has vast experience working with clients facing a variety of concerns, particularly anxiety disorders, difficulties managing stress and those who may need additional support for unresolved trauma(s). Sessions with Renae may include the following therapeutic interventions/modalities: TF-CBT, ACT, Mindfulness-based Interventions, Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapy, Existential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Somatic-based Interventions, Relaxation Techniques, Guided Meditation, Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), Autogenic Training, Breathwork, Psychodrama, Psychoeducation, and more.
Renae holds a Master of Education with a Counselling Specialization, a Diploma in Addiction Medicine and is currently completing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Her doctoral thesis explores mindfulness-based practices in mitigating stress and reducing psychological distress for breast cancer patients. She has also completed specialized education in Psycho-Oncology. Renae is an avid academic, performing at the top of her class and is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society.
Renae is fully licensed and registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), the Cayman Islands Council for Professions Allied with Medicine (CPAM) and is a member of the Jamaican Psychological Association and the International Psycho-Oncology Society. She has over 12 years of clinical experience across various settings including public schools, correctional facilities, non-profit organizations, private practice, and government entities.
Renae is passionate about women’s rights, giving back to the community and developing authentic connections. When she is not working, you can find Renae engaging in yoga practice, immersed in nature, or tending to her garden.
