Developmental Support Services Manager
Sloane Pharr-Strang is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst who leads our Developmental Support Services Team. She has worked in the field of ABA in the USA and New Zealand. Since 2010 she has worked passionately in the Cayman Islands to develop the field and impact the lives of children with autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders and their families. She is an International Behaviour Analyst, ESDM Certified Therapist, P-ESDM Coach, a Level 2 Trained Facilitator in ACT for Parents and Caregivers of People with Developmental Disabilities, and is also trained in Cognitive Stimulation Therapy for Dementia. Sloane is certified through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPA) as a Verbal Intervention Instructor, Dementia Capable Care Specialist, and Dementia Capable Care Trainer. She holds a Master’s degree in ‘Teaching using Applied Behaviour Analysis’ as well as a 2nd Master’s degree in ‘Psychology and Education,’ both from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Under Sloane’s guidance our team has grown from a single ABA therapist in 2010 to a diverse and motivated team made up of BCBAs, Senior Behaviour Technicians, Behaviour Technicians, and Behaviour Technician Aides. Sloane has developed the a localized behaviour tech training programme that incorporates quality standards and cultural understanding to create an exciting career pathway for young aspiring Caymanian therapists. To ensure the highest quality of training, Sloane has become the only Approved Content Provider for the International Behaviour Therapist (IBT) credential in the Cayman Islands. Sloane’s passion is helping children, adolescents, teens, and adults to reach their full potential and supporting and empowering parents and community stakeholders to be better equipped to facilitate and encourage lasting change. She is frequently called upon to provide training in the field of behaviour support and management and has developed partnerships with many local schools, government agencies and specialized care facilities.
In 2022, Sloane became the first active President of the Caribbean Association for Behaviour Analysis (CABA). Along with the other CABA officers, Sloane has spearheaded the revitalization of CABA to ensure that the growth of the field of behaviour analysis throughout the Caribbean aligns with evidence-based, culturally sensitive, ethical, and humane practice.
